Toilet Clogs
Avoid flushing multiple times, as it may worsen the blockage. Equip yourself with rubber gloves and a plunger. Gently insert the plunger into the bowl, ensuring a tight seal, and push and pull vigorously to create suction.
Sink / Shower Clogs
Start by removing visible debris from the drain opening. Plungers are effective tools for breaking up minor blockages; create a tight seal and plunge vigorously. For hair and soap scum buildup, a mixture of baking soda and vinegar can help dissolve the clog; pour it down the drain and let it sit before flushing with hot water. Commercial drain cleaners are an option, but use them cautiously due to potential harm to pipes.
If you lose electrical power in your rental, start by checking if the outage is localized to your unit. Verify if neighbors are experiencing the same issue.
If it's widespread, contact your utility provider to report the outage and inquire about restoration times.
If you lose hot water in your rental, start by checking if the pilot light on your water heater is lit. Follow the manufacturer's instructions to relight it if necessary.
Check the thermostat settings on the water heater to ensure they're appropriate. If these steps don't solve the problem, inform us immediately.
If your heat or air conditioning isn't working, locate the central thermostat in your rental. Use it to verify that all settings look correct. Cycle the system off and back on again to attempt to restore system defaults.
